I am a professor of Earth & Environmental Sciences at Denison University, a small liberal arts college in central Ohio. I study volcanoes for my research and have worked on volcanoes in Chile, New Zealand, California and Oregon. If you’re curious about what I do at Denison, check out my faculty page. I’ve been writing about volcanoes and geology in general since 2008. The original Eruption s was hosted at Science Blogs, BigThink and Wired. Then I wrote Rocky Planet for Discover. I’ve written articles for a variety of media sites, including Daily Beast and have been appeared on NPR, the BBC and more. I love talking about volcanoes and how we can better understand them to prevent volcanic disasters.
